Some of the beauty that I see in wetlands is depicted in my painting of “Gone With the Wind”. This painting depicts the morning sunlight burning through the low- hanging morning mist revealing a red fox startled to see a flock of Carolina parakeets in flight across the silent waters in a North American marsh. The creatures and the vegetation that define these regions are unique and diverse. The absence of the Carolina Parakeet from the eastern, Midwest and plains states' old-growth forest and wetland ecosystems of North America since the early 1900's is a disappointment. I can only imagine the beauty of these larger wild flocks of impressive, brightly-colored parrots soaring over the North American continent at will before they became extinct.
