Spring migration is an exciting time of year for any birder. Living around the Great Lakes adds to the excitement as neotropical migrants tend to congregate in the natural areas dotting the shorelines as they pause to refuel on their migration north. Tawas Point juts out into Lake Eerie providing food and forest cover for traveling birds. During migration, these dwindling stopover sites host multitudes of birds, providing necessary rest and resources for the journey ahead. With its bright colors, the Blackburnian Warbler is a great spark bird to get beginners excited about birding.
