A popular sighting in the African savanna, I came across a family of these gentle giants in the central part of Kruger’s grasslands. The second largest land mammal after the African elephant, white rhinos are being relentlessly poached for their horns, and find safe haven in protected areas like the Kruger National Park. I kept my eyes on this younger member of the family as he busied himself searching for the greenest patch in that expanse in front of our van.
