A long very steep 4wd trip deep into the Wild Rivers National Park, NSW Australia, deposited me onto the Apsley River. This area is very remote, is so beautiful, and abounds in birdlife and other wildlife. A very early morning start revealed sunlight streaming down the riverbanks and mist lifting off the water. Every now and then the tell-tale sound of a kingfisher plop and the flurry of smaller birds had my camera busy. Rainbow Bee Eaters caught my eye, lifting high and swooping low to catch an abundance of insects. A family group were perched along an old dead River Oak branch devouring and sharing their catch.
