This is a Colombian Chachalaca (Ortalis columbiana) and the painting is based on source photos taken in Jardin, Colombia in March of 2018. I was interested in seeing how far a limited palette would go with this piece, i had to break down and use a warm red (scarlet lake) for the wattle.
