It all started with an absolutely phenomenal sailing cruise on the Raincoast Conservation Foundation's research vessel, the Achiever, in September of 2018. While cruising the Great Bear Rainforest we were able to observe several pods of humpback whales, grizzly bears with their newborn cubs, harbour seals and sea Lions. The humpbacks were bubble net feeding and this particular pod we were fortunate enough to be able to watch for a few hours before we moved on. This piece is the result of several photographs and videos of the bubble net method. We would anxiously await the explosion of the whales above the surface to madly take as many photographs as we could. The groupings of hungry seagulls would help us in locating the "net's" centre. This piece and others inspired by last September'rs sail will be used to help raise funds so that the Raincoast Foundation can continue their unique conservation work.
