This beautiful small titmouse is losing its habitat. It needs a mature Scots Pine forest with decaying woods. It still can be found in mature conifer plantations if old and dying trees are left, which they seldom are in commercial forests. Small numbers of them have been recorded across Europe to Russia, southward into Greece and northwards to Central Scandinavia.
