My paintings are a celebration of the privileged place I hold in partnership with my fellow creatures and my Creator. My goal is to re-create the narrative that I read all around me - those interactions or moments that catch my breath and reflect the works of God and His providence throughout all creation. To God be the Glory!

Every day it seems, we turn on our media and see pain and strife and ugliness. But that is not the world which we were given. The world we were given is actually extraordinarily ordered and beautiful. My job as an artist is to continually help illuminate that. Every painting I do is defined by that overarching objective. I consider my work to be nothing more than a simple depiction and celebration of the miracles that surround us every day.

The underlying purpose of creating has to do with why certain objects inspire attention in the first place, or how they might be used to express a concept. The greater connection between object and idea, the more insightful the work will be, the more truth it will reveal, and not just about the thing painted but about the artist as well. It is all about thinking and feeling.

As an artist for conservation, I am always delighted and humbled by the stories I find in nature. My goal is to share those stories with a wider audience. When we fall in love with something, we are more likely to take action to protect it. Art, whether creating it or appreciating it, is a powerful way to do that!

Mary Erickson US

There is a spiritual sense of belonging for me when I am out in Nature. With a childlike excitement, I am awed and inspired by our planet. Paintings are my way of sharing its beauty. As an artist I will leave a body of work that represents my lifelong passion and respect for our environment. I believe there will come a day when the only places we will be allowed a glimpse of true nature will be in the parks and preserves we set aside today. My 39-acre residence in North Carolina is slated to...
