These Gambel’s Quail chicks demonstrate the perils faced by wildlife when trying to make a living among humans. The parents had chosen a nest site in a dense bush next to a parking lot on the edge of a small desert town. All was fine until the chicks ventured down into the parking lot where the steep curb made returning to safety elusive.
