I spent some time watching this Saffron Finch bathe. The whole affair is quite vigorous. Afterward, he seemed to select a favored perch to preen and dry himself, and the angle of the branch reminded me of a cascade tumbling down, reflecting the bathing activity itself. Catching these moments of peace, when birds conduct behaviors that they only do when they feel safe, is a great personal joy of mine.
