I observed this pair of Steller’s Jays high in the Rocky Mountains. Many of these regions are still quite isolated and can allow one to tumble deep into thought without the obvious influence of our modern lives. As these two bounced around in the sub-alpine fir, it was easy to imagine how they, and their ancestors, have done so for countless generations. Wild and remote places can stir our hearts and minds, reminding us of how important it is to protect and conserve these precious spaces for all.
