Great Egrets always amaze me when they take off unexpectedly as I walk through swampland or wet areas. Except for an occasional squawk, you only notice them with the graceful flash of their white bodies as they fly off. They seem to move in silence and leave only trickles of water where they took off from. Walking through the wooded area of Black Water Wildlife Refuge along their many ponds of water is where I experienced this scene of these two egrets flying off.
