The Nicobar Pigeon is the closest living relative of the extinct Dodo. The Nicobar Pigeon is found on small islands like its relative, but has a much wider distribution. It can be found from the Nicobar Islands in the Indian ocean to Palau in the Solomon Islands in the Pacific ocean. Last year, Nicobar Pigeon was found in Australia, and is the first Australian mainland record. The Nicobar Pigeon has metallic rainbow color and long neck plumage which make it one of the most beautiful and elegant pigeon species.
