I had the privilege of visiting the Canadian Great Bear Rainforest - a magical place of pristine ecosystems - with a group of master artists I admire and respect who have nurtured my own creative process. While on a hike together, outside of Klemtu, we were entertained by the ritual dance of an American Dipper feeding her chick. This simple, bowing down, closed-eye posture is not unlike the thank-you gesture that humans exchange after receiving their gifts. In this piece I’d like to honour and thank the friends who have nurtured me over the years and give this drawing as my gift to you.
