Celebrating birds in our backyard. Rhett and Scarlett are a pair of Vermilion Flycatchers that live at my son's school. A friend shared their story and gave them their names, after a wildlife rehabilitator reunited them, and was keen to repeatedly point out they "mate for life". I felt creating a painting reminiscent of the classic movie "Gone with the Wind" was fitting to honor this pair. What better show of true love, than to offer your sweetheart the beautiful two-tailed swallowtail? As God is her witness, she'll never be hungry again! Male Vermilion Flycatchers are known to offer showy insects to their mates.
