This animal was recovered by myself on the edge of a busy road running through the South Downs National Park in Sussex, UK. This is a very special chalkland down landscape, rare & well protected. Yet there are victims of human vehicles travelling through their environment. At the time of her death she was feeding at six Kits, which is illustrated by her engorged teats. They would have all starved, so the death toll increases to eight. So I decided to portray her (& her litter), hence the title, "Dinner for Eight" as a cruel irony. The composition is set on a place matt and a table cloth, all that is not added is a knife & fork.
