I want to first credit Wildlife Photographer Billy Dodson who generously offered me his photo for reference. He is masterful in his ability to capture special moments that can speak volumes in a single shot.
"The Wild Ones" were photographed in Africa at sunset. I was instantly moved by the tenderness between these two African cubs. The mood was sweet and the lighting was soft. I tried to capture this calm moment. I layered oils on board to help achieve this.
Most importantly, I hope to encourage those who can, to help with any conservation efforts.
These wild cubs are the fortunate ones, however they face severe conservation threats from prey depletion, habitat loss, and human-wildlife conflict. Without our help they will vanish.
