My inspiration for this piece stems from my deep love for sea turtles and the ocean. Having visited Florida regularly, I have been fortunate enough to witness these fascinating creatures nesting and watch hatchlings make their determined journey back to the sea.
However, sea turtles face significant adversity, from natural predators to plastic pollution. This led me to volunteer with the Volusia/Flagler County Turtle Patrol, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting nests during the May-October nesting season. Through my involvement, I have adopted nests, donated artwork for fundraisers, and participated in nest digs to collect vital data on hatch success rates.
I hope my painting conveys the sheer wonder and beauty of the sea turtle. If it inspires viewers to support turtle patrols or ocean cleanup efforts, it would truly warm my heart
