Wall color:
This is a bonded pair of critically endangered rufous-headed hornbills. The one with a yellow gular pouch is a male. The one with light blue around the eye and gular pouch reaching out to the male is the female. I photographed them in Negros, Philippines. I subsequently painted them back at my studio as part of my series on endangered species, Metazoa. They are known locally as dulungans. They form part of the Visayan Big Five, a group of critically endangered species from the Visayan region of The Philippines.
