I created Nowhere Left to Stand to explore the fragility of the Polar Bear’s future in a warming world. The bear emerges while simultaneously dissolving into fluid traces that echo the disappearance of sea ice beneath it. Because Polar Bears depend on sea ice to hunt, travel, and survive, its loss threatens every aspect of their existence. Through this painting, I wanted to reflect the gradual erosion of stability, certainty, and home in a rapidly changing Arctic.
