Lionesses serve as the primary protectors and hunters of their pride, playing a crucial role in the survival of their family group, their vigilance ensuring its safety, but losing adult lionesses can be particularly devastating for the population's long-term survival. Their absence can disrupt the balance of the ecosystem and compromise the future of both the pride and the species as a whole. Sadly, they are classified as vulnerable, which highlights the challenges they face in the wild. I wanted to capture the pure power and presence of this solitary lioness, her constant vigilance and need to protect her pride.
