Wall color:
The Great Blue Heron has long been one of my favourite symbols of Canada’s wetlands. My family affectionately calls them “the old men of the marsh” because they often appear to stand watch at the water’s edge with quiet dignity. In this composition, the bold movement of the heron taking flight contrasts with the surrounding open space, creating a sense of freedom and quiet drama. The subdued colours reflect the mood of a dreary autumn day along the coast of British Columbia, while celebrating the enduring beauty of these remarkable birds and the wetlands they call home.
