The snow leopard is a large cat native to the rugged high mountains of Central and South Asia. Elusive and mysterious, it is known as the "Ghost of the Mountains”. This majestic cat appears in the mythology and folklore of several cultures, symbolizing strength, resilience, and spiritual guidance. Sadly, fewer than 6,000 snow leopards are left in the wild, as poaching, habitat loss, human conflict, and climate change take their toll. I painted “Ghost of the Himalayas” as part of my Fabulous Felines series celebrating the iconic beauty and grace of endangered big cats around the world.
