Living on Vancouver Island, I am surrounded by water and the remarkable wildlife it supports. Creating this bronze Humpback Whale deepened my appreciation for these extraordinary marine mammals, particularly after learning that some migrate more than 8,000 kilometres each year—among the longest migrations of any mammal. The remarkable recovery of humpback whale populations over the past four decades demonstrates what is possible when meaningful conservation measures are put in place. Their story offers hope and reminds us that, together, we can make a lasting difference.
