Living in Florida, one cannot miss the beautiful Spanish moss hanging from the trees. The inspiration for this painting happened when walking through a cemetery near the Ocala National Forest. This has been a prime spot for me to photograph birds of all types. I heard two crows cawing at something below the top of this tree as they were moving from branch to branch. Walking towards this tree and from the angle I was coming from I could not see what they were so excited about. As I circled the trunk to see what the fuss was about, I saw a Great Horn Owl peering down at me from behind a veil of Spanish Moss. He was not bothered by my presence but did take off after several more crows arrived and began harassing him with their noise. I could not wait to get home to start this painting.
