Wall color:
Each winter, a large raft of American coots passed my home on Lake Marion in South Carolina. Occasionally, a few would stop to preen on a nearby log or rock before continuing their daily journey. The soft morning mist filtering through their feathers created a quiet beauty that inspired this painting. Every evening they returned in the opposite direction to an unknown roosting site. Although I never discovered where they spent the night, watching them became one of my favourite daily rituals.
