The birdlife along Botswana’s Chobe River was extraordinary. Although White-fronted bee-eaters feed on insects rather than fish, this individual appeared to be plunge-bathing, diving into the water before bursting back into the air and returning to a nearby perch to preen. The moment perfectly captured the energy and elegance that inspired this painting.
