The day my granddaughter was born, another school shooting claimed innocent lives as students gathered for the start of the school year. The contrast between new life and tragic loss was overwhelming. It strengthened my belief that unless we learn to value and protect the vulnerable—whether human or animal—this cycle will continue. This work reflects that conviction and calls for greater compassion and responsibility.
