Rather than make a political statement, I chose to celebrate wolves by creating a fictional pack that exists safely within my drawings—beyond judgment and beyond harm. Like human families, wolf packs have rich social dynamics, with siblings of different ages learning and growing together. My imagined pack currently includes two energetic young wolves, Rollo and Lupa, who are more than capable of causing mischief. This drawing introduces their slightly older sibling. As in many families, older brothers and sisters sometimes need a quiet moment away from younger siblings after a bit of teasing. Time Out captures that familiar pause while celebrating the intelligence, individuality, and family bonds that make wolves such remarkable animals.
