I love the Araucária trees in our region of Brazil... critically endangered with only about 1% remaining, this species is as old as the dinosaurs and they are vitally important to the Vinaceous-breasted Parrot. I painted the Araucária first, and wanted to somehow connect it to our Vinaceous-breasted Parrot. After some consideration, I decided to create a 'diptych' of sorts with the Parrot painting below the tree it so depends upon. Photographic reference of the parrot provided by Roberta Boss.
