It was quite a challenge to capture some reference photos for this painting, the pups were in a very playful mood and never sat still!!
Meet Rusty, Muffin and Socks, three captive bred dingoes that play an important role to ensure Australia's Dingo genetic conservation stays strong.
I learnt that 'Socks' was going to be adopted by the owners of Cedar Creek Wombat Rescue Inc. I have visited this bush Sanctuary a few times, which is situated a short drive from the quaint little village of Wollombi, NSW. They work tirelessly with our wildlife, especially wombats. I decided on using some artistic licence to create a scene in bushland close to where Socks now lives. I travelled to Wollombi to gather reference of the beautiful bush rock formations and dappled sunlight filtering through the towering eucalyptus, I wanted to capture gentle harmony between the sheltered landscape and the innocent pups. I absolutely loved creating this painting, it reminded me of how fortunate we are to live in such a beautiful country.
