The Tiger is a beautiful and captivating animal, instantly recognizable by their orange and black striped coat. The different subspecies have historically had a vast range, covering large parts of east, central, and south Asia. Tiger populations have lost around 93% of that historic range, where human pressure, habitat loss, and poaching for fur and body parts have led to a huge decline in their numbers. As a result, there are now more tigers in captivity than there are in the wild. We are starting to see some success in recovering tiger populations. It is essential for research and conservation efforts to continue in protecting one of the most charismatic species in nature.
