My scratchboard tool of choice is a sewing needle fixed to a handmade handle. As you can imagine, using such a fine instrument can add up to many hours of work. Nothing can be rushed. Only by slowly building up layers of stippling and cross-hatching does the white image finally emerge. Having taken about 660 hours over a seven-month period, this is by far my largest and most ambitious project to date. Lean in and enjoy all the amazing textures created.
