This painting honours the red fox, a symbol of adaptability in human-shaped environments. Part of my Painting for Conservation series, it features a William Morris-inspired background illustrating the fox’s ecosystem. Beaked hazelnuts, walnut sphinx moths, Blue Jays, and American Crows all play roles in its food web. These elements highlight the intricate balance of nature and the impact of human development. The red fox’s quiet resilience speaks to nature’s ability to evolve amid disruption. Through this work, I aim to spark reflection on our role in conservation and the beauty found in ecosystems shaped by both wildness and change.
