The Golden toad was only recently discovered in 1964. It was discovered in a remote location of Costa Rica’s Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Unfortunately, the last sighting of this toad was in 1989. Later they were declared extinct due to not being seen again. I wanted to convey a sense of longing and fading in this painting, as if you are seeing this toad for the last time and by morning they will be gone forever.
