In my painting, 'Shades of Grey', the light filters through the cold crisp air as it illuminates the ice crystals on the bed of leaves where this Grey Wolf rests peacefully. A flash of red in a few of the leaves depicts a recently past Autumn but also echoes the thirst for her prey is drawing near. She is always alert to her surroundings and knows at any moment her wild nature may be called upon. The Grey Wolf, being the largest living wild canine species, also has the second largest population in Canada, second only to Russia.
