Wall color:
This piece is painted on hand-made Japanese washi (paper) using soutia bluish black ink made using genuine indigo which takes months to make by hand.
I used the same brush for the entire painting. It also was handmade, in this case from wolf hair.
I enjoy painting owls and particularly barn owls or snowy owls due to their distinct markings
Owls are predators.
This owl has seen something that has definitely caught it's interest
I felt it move from it's perch upon the stump to is current position - practically hanging off the stump.
The intensity of it's gaze is palatable.
You look into it's eyes and know that decisions are being made that will be acted upon in short order.
I feel the tension in the moment of decision
What does it see or hear that has it so very interested?
You have become part of this story.
Looking into those eyes is like looking into the depths of it's soul.
At this moment, expect the unexpected.
The meaning of the signature stamp I carved and used on this painting, 'soul'.
