Tiny particles of dust burn up above the Earth, travelling at terrific speeds into our upper atmosphere where the night sky glows with their radiant light. Sporadic meteors are a phenomenon where one might see about ten shooting stars per hour. In this painting, shooting stars in the night sky illuminate the waves crashing upon the shore.
