"I'm Here Because of You" - Female Northern Wheatear Roadkill | Wallhanging by Nick Day | Artists for Conservation 2023

Nick Day GB

I believe the human mammal has found it increasingly more difficult to move away from our fast evolving & more technological ‘world’, where the environment is badly damaged in our thirst for knowledge, and is neglected to the point of justification & denial. What I strive to do in my portrayal of Nature, is to bring the onlooker into the subject's world using basic human instincts such as pity, without being sentimental, whilst at the same time illustrating a little of the fascinating...

I work in oil paint, which I love for their soft and luminescent qualities. By getting hands on with animals in my vet work I can study not only their appearance and anatomy but also the way they feel - from the velvety coat of a Margay to the hard wrinkles of a Rhino. I want to portray those textures as accurately I can, so that I can share my experiences with viewers of my artworks - and bring the wild right to your home.

Apex Predator | Sculpture by Rob Dreyer | Artists for Conservation 2023

Rob Dreyer US

Every day it seems, we turn on our media and see pain and strife and ugliness. But that is not the world which we were given. The world we were given is actually extraordinarily ordered and beautiful. My job as an artist is to continually help illuminate that. Every painting I do is defined by that overarching objective. I consider my work to be nothing more than a simple depiction and celebration of the miracles that surround us every day.

The underlying purpose of creating has to do with why certain objects inspire attention in the first place, or how they might be used to express a concept. The greater connection between object and idea, the more insightful the work will be, the more truth it will reveal, and not just about the thing painted but about the artist as well. It is all about thinking and feeling.

Wetland Naturehood Mandala | Wallhanging by Vicky Earle | Artists for Conservation 2023

Vicky Earle CA

As an artist for conservation, I am always delighted and humbled by the stories I find in nature. My goal is to share those stories with a wider audience. When we fall in love with something, we are more likely to take action to protect it. Art, whether creating it or appreciating it, is a powerful way to do that!

Mary Erickson US

There is a spiritual sense of belonging for me when I am out in Nature. With a childlike excitement, I am awed and inspired by our planet. Paintings are my way of sharing its beauty. As an artist I will leave a body of work that represents my lifelong passion and respect for our environment. I believe there will come a day when the only places we will be allowed a glimpse of true nature will be in the parks and preserves we set aside today. My 39-acre residence in North Carolina is slated to...

The Last Migration | Wallhanging by Elizabeth Evans | Artists for Conservation 2023

Elizabeth Evans CA

As an artist I seek to create an emotional response that captures the viewer’s attention and transports them into the painting. My work is representational and therefore the choice of subject is always a key consideration. The artistic challenge is in combining form, colour, composition and subject in a way that makes it all work seamlessly. I strive to blend a number of elusive elements in just the right proportions and fuse these to create a memorable image on canvas. I pursued my passion for...

Up in Flames | Wallhanging by Spencer Frazer | Artists for Conservation 2023

Spencer Frazer US

Since ancient times man has used art to tell stories and document history.  My work follows in this tradition with a commentary around global climate change.  Often using wildlife to create a point of view,  the paintings depict the results of the human impact upon nature.  Embedded with a unique visual language of intricate and subliminal patterns, the work bridges the literal and the imaginative. spencerfrazer.com
