When I had the exciting opportunity in 2005 to witness orangutans at a rehabilitation centre in Borneo, I was deeply touched by how endearing and gentle they are. I could see how aware and intelligent they were. Sadly, we are losing our connection to the natural world through our modern, convenient way of living, responsible for rampant rainforest habitat loss, all for making ready-made snacks and other products from palm oil. Those products come at a significant cost: the loss of the forest homes and lives of orangutans - one of the most beautiful and sentient creatures in the world.
