I wanted to paint this beautiful bird but never had a setting which would do the owl justice. I finally found a suitable old farm shed with combinations of farm memorabilia to design this painting. To make the Owl the center of attention, I kept the backdrop somewhat subdued with just enough detail to hold the viewers’ interest. I selected an Owl strutting a magical pose, showing the wing structure catching the light. The softness of the delicate feathers had patterns of cream and varying buff tones broken by patches of grey. Within the greys were tiny cream tear shaped markings. These were very time consuming to paint. It was such a difficult but very satisfying artwork to complete.
