These colorful birds can be found in southeastern Australia. Their lifespan can exceed 20 years. They are a medium sized parrot that is most often not migratory and prefer to live in tropical, sub-tropical and humid, well-established forests. They mate for life and during breeding season they remove themselves from their usual flocks of 20 individuals. They are not endangered.
