I have always loved painting wildlife up close and personal. The images of this big guy of the forest were simply irresistible. As I sketched him and worked the painting up, I couldn't help but wonder what he was pondering whilst looking back at the camera. It brought home to me that as big as he is, and in command of his forest - his fate really is in our hands. Is that what he was thinking? If it was, I hope that he has some faith in us as humans. I also hope I conveyed this through his portrait.
