After delivering a painting to the Chapultepec Zoo in Mexico City, I hopped on a plane to take me to Oaxaca Mexico. The sites were so breathtaking with the beautiful old architecture and the diverse culture and wildlife. Funny, the animals that I was drawn to, were the pigeons. Not unlike the pigeons I have in East Tennessee, but perhaps it was the commonality of the birds in this foreign landscape that beckoned me to paint them. This old church is the Sangre de Cristo church in the center of the city and like many city landscapes, included the common pigeon.
