Inspired by the glorious reflections of a sunset on the ocean, 'Sunkissed' is an impressionistic textured painting with a rich, warm, earthy palette. Layers of paint, pigments and sand were used to create the unusual textures and a 3-D effect, blurring the line between painting and sculpture, inviting the viewer to touch it. I use both my scientific and artistic backgrounds to communicate environmental issues, to invite dialogue and discussion. The ethereal imagined landscape of 'Sunkissed' was intentionally created to raise awareness of the effect of rising temperatures due to climate change resulting in global warming.
