Cecil (2002 - 07/02/2015) was a young African lion in the prime of his life in Zimbabwe. He was being studied by a long-term study of lions. On the night of July 1, 2015, Cecil was illegally lured out of the protected area and killed by an American big game trophy hunter who has never been charged for his crime. As a lifelong conservationist, my hope is that my memorial portrait of Cecil serves to celebrate his life and the importance of protecting these majestic cats.
