Living on the shores of Grand Traverse Bay on Lake Michigan, I have experienced climate change, impacting weather systems that directly affect lake levels. High waters in the Great Lakes Region wreaked havoc on shorelines. Roads, homes, and land are being lost. For 'Inundated', I used reference photos from my own water frontage as the water rose, swallowing first the beach, then bushes and trees along the shore. Waves pummeled what was once a land locked retaining wall, holding back a small dune with my home above. I was terrified but couldn't help but see the beauty. I was inspired to produce artwork but would gladly trade that inspiration for global action to curtail climate change.
