Lemurs are fascinating in many ways. Lemurs are only native to Madagascar and a few surrounding islands, with estimates of only about 2,000 - 2,500 remaining in the wild. The species are undergoing substantial declines as their forests and habitats continue to be destroyed. I was particularly drawn to this Lemur as it wrapped it's tail around it's body, forming an almost perfect circle of rings. The Ring-tailed Lemur has exactly 13 alternating black and white bands on it's tail.
