Homage to Magawa, the African Giant-pouched Rat famous for sniffing out landmines in Cambodia. Magawa and his human colleagues sniffed out and dug up over 100 landmines in their 6-year career working together, making 55 acres of land safe for humans and animals to use. Magawa was awarded a gold medal for his heroism by a British organization in 2020. Only dogs had been honored with this award up until Magawa. He passed away in October 2021 from natural causes. There are few stone monuments to famous rats, and I want to highlight Magawa's significance. Humans and animals can work together to create a better world for all of us.
