Saguaros are a highly complex and essential part of the Sonoran Desert ecosystem. This old goliath shows the ravages of time, the wind, and sun scorched environment. The scars are caused by many birds and animals that have sheltered there over time. Habitat destruction has long been a threat to the cactus. A new threat, buffel grass, is an invasive dry grass threatening its long-term survival.
